Rownham Hill
Leigh Woods, Bristol
This home renovation project at Rownham Hill provides a holistic lifestyle retrofit for a three storey, 1960s terraced property. This incorporates open plan living, a new utility area, and maximised, integrated storage. The overall energy strategy aims to get as close to the Enerphit standard (the Passivhaus retrofit standard) as possible, alongside being gas free.
The project involved the thermal upgrade of all external walls, roof and floors, the replacement of windows with triple glazed composite windows, the installation of an air source heat pump, combined with ground floor underfloor heating, mechanical heat recovery ventilation and south facing, roof mounted photovoltaics.
The consideration of the open plan living area, coordination of the heat recovery ductwork and the satisfaction of the fire escape strategy as part of Building Regulations compliance, focussed around an integrated, sliding screen and fire curtain coordinated with the ground floor joinery.
The project was completed in February 2022.
