Our People
One50studio is led by directors Matt Harrison and Joe Edgard, who have been working together in Bristol since 2009. We founded the practice in 2017 and have been based in the Create Centre since 2020.
We’re committed to making One50studio the best possible place to work for everyone on our team – a studio that fosters a culture of kindness, respect, and collaboration. We’re proud to support graduates from architecture programmes and regularly offer year-long placements, which bring fresh perspectives, energy, and ideas to the practice.
Matt is an architect passionate about the value and social necessity of architecture and place design, believing it shapes how people interact and supports successful communities. He emphasises the role of architects in co-creating environments with those who will inhabit them. Influenced by a personal family connection to Autism, Matt values empathic design that fosters social interaction and individual wellbeing. He is a panel member of Design West, contributing to urban design reviews for major schemes across the South West, and lectures part-time at the University of Bath. Outside of work, Matt is dedicated to spending time in water in whatever form that takes—except rain generally!

Motivated by creating spaces that foster human connection and link to the natural world, he sees engaging with nature as vital to addressing climate and ecological crises. He enjoys the technical challenges of building delivery and advocates for the use of natural, low embodied carbon materials. Matt has been an Associate Lecturer at the University of the West of England since 2018, teaching across Year 1 and 2 architecture courses.
